Rustbelt Reclamation’s Mather furniture line pays homage to – and earns its name from – one of the most prominent and influential families in the history of America’s Midwest. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the Mather family owned and operated Pickands Mather & Company, a long-standing industry leader in both the production and distribution of iron ore. Through its operations, the company helped fuel the second industrial revolution that in turn, transformed the American Midwest into a flourishing and vibrant industrial center. Seeking to share their prosperity, the Mather family was responsible for some of the most significant philanthropic and cultural contributions ever made in the region and most markedly within their home-city of Cleveland, Ohio. The Mather Line endeavors to encapsulate the spirit of its namesake, in its use of material and industrial, bare bones aesthetic. Welded high grade 304 stainless steel square tubing form the foundation of each piece. The surfacing is 1-1/2” thick reclaimed pine with oak and maple accent striping available in both rich mahogany or natural finishes.
